Precaution against damages

During the past weeks Enemalta engineers and technicians, together with an expert from an international company specializing in automation technology, have dismantled the switchgear and replaced parts with automation mechanism at the Mosta Distribution Center.

As part of this maintenance work, coils and limit switches have been replaced to ensure that the circuit breakers continue to function appropriately.

Technical testing were conducted to ensure that the circuit breaker triggers in less than 70 milliseconds.

This time threshold is extremely important to isolate faults and avoiding extensive damages which may result in wider outages.

As a result, the number of substations and consumers impacted by the fault is reduced.
