According to the Laws of Malta, every property connected to the national electricity grid (single and three phase installations) shall be equipped with an appropriate double-pole main circuit breaker, an overvoltage protective device and a residual current device. Every electrical installation shall also have a reliable earthing system. These regulations specify that property owners must have their electricity system periodically inspected by an authorised electrician or electrical engineer.
