Arrival of a second transformer for Mrieħel DC

The process to expand the Mrieħel Distribution Centre facilities, a critical node in the power distribution system located at the industrial estate, is well underway.

As part of the plan to reinforce the Electricity distribution system, a new transformer, with a capacity of 15/22.5MVA , is currently being installed . Testing will begin soon after and by August, it will be connected to Enemalta’s grid.

Similar to the extension projects at Tarxien and Marsascala Distribution Centers, the installation of the second transformer will ensure that there will be no disruption in the electrical supply when transformer repair is necessary.

The need for such development stemmed from the fact that the Mrieħel industrial estate also known as the Central Business District is increasing the investment that provides work to thousands of workers.
