Freedom of Information Act
Chap. 496 of the Laws of Malta refers to the Freedom of Information Act. This legislation establishes a right to information held by public authorities in order to promote added transparency and accountability, subject to a number of conditions and exclusions.
You may submit requests pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act through the website www.foi.gov.mt or by sending us an email on [email protected].
We will review your request and inform you if it will be accepted or refused within 20 working days. We may also inform you that we will be extending this timeframe to consult third parties or to compile the information being requested.
If your request is refused, or if you are not satisfied with the information provided, you may submit a complaint through the website www.foi.gov.mt or by email on [email protected]. If your difficulty is not resolved to your satisfaction, the Freedom of Information Act also empowers you to escalate your request to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner.
